The official exam consists of 20 multiple-choice and true/false questions. You have 45 minutes to complete the test and must correctly answer at least 15 questions (75%) to pass.

What happens if I fail the Canadian citizenship test?

How many times can I take the citizenship test in Canada?

In most cases, you have three opportunities to demonstrate your knowledge. If you do not pass the first exam, you will be invited to take a second one. If you fail the second exam, you will be required to attend a hearing with a citizenship official.

What happens after you take the citizenship test?

If you pass the exam and meet all the other requirements, the next step is the citizenship ceremony. You will receive an invitation, or Notice to Appear, to take the Oath of Citizenship and receive your certificate.
